Abuzz is a full service provider, combining business analysis, user experience, graphic and industrial design, software engineering, in-house manufacturing, installation and ongoing support and service. This allows it to take a holistic approach to meeting client requirements as well as providing expert advice at all stages of a project.
At the heart of Abuzz’s success is a strong design philosophy that is centered on user experience. It was the first to create a successful format of electronic wayfinding from which an entire industry has emerged. Today it remains the innovator worldwide and, in an ever-changing digital landscape, continues to provide the best experience for its clients and ultimately its clients’ customers.
Abuzz has won multiple prestigious awards including, most recently, a fifth Australian Design Award for the stylish and unique solution provided to iAPM shopping centre in Shanghai, China.
History of digital wayfinding
In 2003, Abuzz were selected to develop electronic directories for Westfield in Sydney, Australia. The innovations Abuzz developed were world firsts including:
- Shortest route to destination
- Heads up map orientation
- Animated paths
- Centralised administration
- User interaction reporting
The user experience was completely unique and original. These systems proved to be very reliable, so much so that they performed flawlessly for 7 years before the centre upgraded to Abuzz’s current large-format hardware and highly evolved software solution.
Recent Australian and international awards won by Abuzz include an Australian Good Design Award for the Flint Directory and a Singapore Good Design Award for the ION Orchard Wayfinder project.
